What is an FL Studio project file?
An FL Studio project file (.flp) is the program's native format. It stores a track's patterns, playlist arrangement, mixer routing, automation and plugin settings, but not the audio samples. A zipped loop package (.zip) bundles the .flp with its samples, so nothing is missing when you open it. FL Studio opens projects saved in an older version, but not the other way around.

How to open an FLP file in FL Studio?
-
Download the file. Keep a .zip as it is.
-
In FL Studio, choose File → Open and select the .flp or the .zip.
-
If FL Studio reports missing samples, add the project folder under Options → File settings → Browser extra search folders.
-
Save your own copy with File → Save new version (Ctrl+N).
Requirements and compatibility?
-
Third-party plugins are listed on each project
-
FL Studio 2024 or newer. A project saved in a newer version can't be opened in an older one.
-
If FL Studio warns about missing plugins, install the same plugin and version, or choose a project that uses only stock plugins.
-
The .flp opens only in FL Studio. [WAV stems and MIDI] can be imported into any DAW, without FL Studio's arrangement and mixer settings.
